Welcome to the UK Sea Kayak Guidebook

Monday 21 February 2005. . .

  • Just added 4 "Quicktime" movies to John Willacy's article on the "Amorous Seal" - fantastic! (But if you don't have Broadband, don't try the download!) Wonderful stuff - click here and enjoy!

  • I've added the famous Orca video to the site - here. Thanks to Clive Joyner for that one.

  • In case you missed it on the Community Forum, http://www.lonely-isles.com/ is a lovely web-site dedicated to abandoned and sparsely populated Scottish Islands, created by Paul Clements. Not specifically kayaking oriented, but well worth a look.

Friday 18 February 2005. . .

  • From the web - Matty's Tasmanian Aventures is worth a look - nice pics, some good write-ups of trips and a couple of "techy" articles, including a detailed review of the Garmin GPS Map 60CS.

  • Chris Stephens mailed me with a reminder about www.qajaqusa.org - he says "it's an interesting site dedicated to traditional kayaking and kayak building. The newsletter, the Masik, is particularly good".

  • The Feb/March on-line edition of WaveLength is now available for downloading here - some good stuff on "mothership paddling" - hmmmmm.

  • Fancy a Symposium that looks a bit different - enjoy the sun in Spain - details of the 1st Spanish Sea Kayaking Symposium. Nice. March in Scotland or March in Spain? No contest!

  • Planning your Easter trip? Send us a write up / pics / details - all contributions are welcome.

"In this Symposium, the first in Spain in this sport modality, will participate well known international personalities of the world of Sea Kayak"

Sunday 15 January 2005. . . . . .

  • Right - Heather & Mark Rainsley went to Brittany in the summer of 2004 - here's Heather's excellent write-up of what looks to have been a wonderful trip. Click here or on the picture for her report. Looks rather nice.

  • From the web - if Folding Boats are your thing, take a look at Michael Edelman's very detailed site dedicated to these interesting craft.

  • Some more history of shark fishing in Scottish Waters - this article has more background to add to the story.
  • Can a kayak fly? You decide.

  • Looking for a sea boat for the 2005 season? Check the For Sale Board of the Community Forum. Lots of discussions on the Sea & Surf Board as well.

  • Did you go anywhere interesting / different / exciting / just plain nice in 2004? If so, we'd  love to have your recollections here on UKSKGB. Don't feel you have to be a great writer or a fantastic photographer, all contributions are welcome.
